For the first time in the 140-year history of the census of the country, data will be collected from the mobile app for this, about 33 lakh census workers will go home from home.
This was announced by Home Minister Amit Shah on the occasion of the foundation stone of Census Building in New Delhi on 23 September.

Census work is the largest official work done under the Census Act 1948.The first census of independent India was completed in 1951.
The Office of Registrar General and Census Commissioner under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs is the nodal authority for conducting census in the country after every 10 years.
The data obtained from the census has great importance in the economic field. On the basis of these figures, the government plans to provide education, health employment and other civic facilities for the coming generation.
